SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Schenectady Police are investigating a fatal shooting outside of Joe's Bar on 5th Avenue. Officials said it happened just after 5 a.m Saturday morning.

As police collect evidence, friends of Rashad Robinson, 23, light candles in his memory. They grieve feet away from where the shootings took place. Robinson was shot in the torso and rushed to Ellis Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

John Tapp, a Schenectady resident, called 911.

"Everyone ran out of the bar," he said. "Just hauling butt and taking off in cars."

George Lloyd, 23, and Sean Coons, 28, were injured.

"This place was packed," John Tapp said.

"The were all standing outside the bar when the shootings took place," said Lt. Mark McCracken, Schenectady Police. "They're involvement prior to this unknown."

Now, detectives, including Chief Mark Charles, Schenectady Police, gather evidence. Police said gunshots came from a car, what witnesses describe as a Chrysler 300.

"An SUV was seen leaving the scene. As the SUV was pulling away, the shots were fired by an assailant inside the SUV," Lt. McCracken said.

"The biggest issue is that its in the middle of a residential area. I mean, there are kids here, average families that live in this neighborhood," said Matt Rich, a Schenectady resident.

This neighborhood the scene of yet another crime, where, too often, it seems, a street corner is cast as a memorial.

YNN called Joe's Bar and Grill. Someone who identified himself as the owner answered, saying he was in the kitchen at the time of the shooting and knew nothing.
