ALBANY, N.Y. -- “We had a meditation flash mob out there, we had a bunch of people singing, a bunch of people praying,” said protester Daniel Morrissey.

A serene description for the showdown in Lafayette Park that ended with two dozen Occupy Albany protestors in handcuffs. The group openly challenging the 11 p.m. curfew in the state owned park.

Many now back at the encampment. Several demonstrators were led away after crossing into Lafayette Park from Academy Park where city officials have allowed them to set up camp. The group accusing Governor Cuomo of infringing on their rights.

“That’s a state park, it’s with our money that it’s kept, and therefore I have a right to be there,” said protester Lily Rodulfo.

Morrissey said, “Governor Cuomo is attempting to squash this occupation because it’s right next to the Empire State Capitol building.”

It's easy to see where Academy Park ends and Lafayette Park begins, but as the state tries to keep this space clear, we may see more challenges to the curfew to come.

“I am contemplating getting arrested myself, something I never would have dreamed of doing,” said Rodulfo.

And many here said they're intent on specifically challenging the governor. Saying their concerns about economic inequality and a myriad of other issues aren't being heard.

Protester Joanne Farrell said, “I made a list collected a survey here and I delivered that survey to the governor I was hoping to get a meeting with him.”

For now, the district attorney said serious charges will be dealt with but those charged with trespassing won't be prosecuted. A stance that may be put to the test as the occupation continues.
