ALBANY, N.Y. -- The man arrested in connection with a homicide during a robbery attempt at the Ogden Mill apartments in Cohoes was arraigned Monday.
The Albany County District Attorney's Office said Mark Richardson is charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter, along with burglary, robbery, and assault.
Police said late last month, Richardson was knocking on doors at the Ogden Mill apartments, looking to rob anyone who answered.
John Siakala, 67, was beaten to death when he answered his door. Police say Richardson also assaulted another woman as he left the building.
Assistant District Attorney David Rossi would not comment on the specifics of the case but said he looking forward to getting everything out at the trial.
"We're very pleased with all the work of the police departments. The Troy Police Department, the Cohoes Police Department, the New York State Police. We're very pleased with the work they did, and we look forward to the proceeding," Rossi said.
The case will be back in court on Jan. 17.
