STATEWIDE -- Environmental and energy groups and state and local officials will have their say on Governor Andrew Cuomo's proposed 2012-2013 budget.

The ninth of 13 legislative hearings is being held today to review the Governor's $135.5 billion spending plan. The hotly debated issue of hydrofracking is likely to come up today.

Many environmental groups oppose the gas drilling process, saying it could pollute state water supplies.

Those in support of fracking said it will bring money and jobs to cash-strapped areas across the state. Cuomo's budget proposal did not mention any potential revenue from drilling.

Hydrofracking has been put on hold since the DEC launched an environmental impact study in 2008.
