TROY, N.Y. -- The Sage Colleges received its largest donation in history from one of its own.

Alumna Donna Esteves donated $10 million to the school. In honor of the gift, the School of Education will be named the Esteves School of Education.

The school's board of trustees made the announcement Thursday at the spring meeting. Esteves currently serves as the board chair. She said the gift is one from the heart, and felt right as the school approaches its 100th anniversary.

"The S.O.E. provides the highest quality programs to educate teachers, counselors, administrators, as well as the many outreach programs and out reach programs that positively impact our communities," said Esteves.

Sage Colleges President Susan Scrimshaw said the funding will also help with renovation projects, as well as long-term support for the colleges financial stability.
