ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. -- If you want to get your son or daughter into golf, what better way than being taught by a local pro?

Pro golfer Dotty Pepper hosted a pre-tournament golf clinic for students at Voorheesville Elementary School. The kids got to tee off and swing some clubs in the field behind their school.

The Saratoga native says it is important to teach golf at a young age.

"Teach them the basics of the game, it is something they can take for a life time. Not only to pave a way into high school and into college, but also in business and beyond," Pepper said.

"I think golf is just really fun because in the wedging, it just pops into the air. It is really cool," fourth grader Amanda Gillenwalters said.

The pro golfer is also promoting her new children's book called, “Bogey Tees Off” with co-author Scott Fuller and illustrator Kenneth Templeton.
