ALBANY, N.Y. -- The 42nd annual Greek Festival kicks off in Albany this weekend. The event attracts thousands to Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Church on Whitehall Road. The festival features Greek entertainment, culture and of course food.
The festival chairman says the event gives everyone a chance to be Greek, at least for the weekend.
"We have rides for the children, we have shopping for the women, we've got food choices for just about everybody, and of course it's about fun and food... the food is a main reason everybody comes," said George Sokaris, festival chairman.
And that includes more than 35,000 Greek pastries. There's free admission tonight for the tent section of the festival only.
