SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Interested homeowners in the city of Schenectady continue to receive some extra help, thanks to an initiative by the city and KeyBank. The Key to the City Program held its fifth open house on Sunday in the Northside neighborhood.
The program not only helps with the purchase of a home, but also helps promote local businesses and the community around it. According to the Business Review, Schenectady County has the largest growth in home sales in the region.
This program will give perspective buyers an opportunity to jump in, putting little down and getting a mortgage at a competitive rate.
"We've done the analysis where the perception of high taxes, the market has discounted that. So the value is here in our housing. So if we continue to do this on a monthly basis and get the message out, incrementally we're going to build this community and attract more owner occupied houses," said Gary McCarthy, (D) Schenectady Mayor.
KeyBank said they will continue with these monthly open houses. For more information on the program, visit one of the local KeyBank offices in Schenectady.
