TROY, N.Y. -- A Rensselaer County man was arrested after police said a fight led to another man being dragged by a truck for miles.

Troy police said Robert Kowalik called 911 to report he was being dragged through the streets of Troy. Kowalik later told the dispatcher he was able to get off the truck near Walmart but that the driver, Seth Scudds, had left.

Kowalik was taken to Albany Medical Center where he is being treated for serious injuries.

Scudds was arrested and charged with assault, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving. Police said the assault charges come from when they said Scudds hit Kowalik over the head with canned cat food and on the back with a brick. Scudds was jailed on $7,500 bail.
