ALBANY, N.Y. -- The College of Saint Rose is celebrating the opening of Centennial Hall.
A ribbon cutting was held Wednesday in honor of the new four-story student residence hall at 930 Madison Avenue.
Construction began in the summer of 2011 and was completed this month, just in time for students to move in.
The apartment-style dorms will house more than 220 upper-class students. Each room is equipped with full living rooms and kitchens. The dorm also has a convenience store and a cafe open to the public.
School officials say this residence offers an urban style of living to their growing numbers of on-campus residents.
Jen Richardson, Director of Residence Life, said, "We've typically run a 70-student wait list over the last few years of students who moved off campus and wanted to come back into on-campus living, so this was definitely needed to meet those students' requests."
EYP Architecture and Engineering of Albany designed the urban-style building.
