COLONIE, N.Y. -- Albany International Airport will be collecting canned goods this holiday season. It's part of a group effort with United Airlines, US Airways and the Regional Food Bank.
The airlines will be collecting non-perishable food items to help feed those less fortunate.
Organizers say they hope to collect at least 5,000 canned goods.
Regional Food Bank Executive Director Mark Quandt said, "So many people pass through the airport everyday. The key is to make sure they are aware of the food drive. When they come for a flight, bring a few cans along and drop them off with the tellers and it will all add up to a big total."
The Holiday Canned Food Drive runs from December 10-23.
