GUILDERLAND, N.Y. -- The woman who handed a state trooper a holiday card containing $1,000 has come forward.

Trooper Christopher Maniscalco was responding to a call on Oake Tree Avenue on Sunday, Dec. 2 when a woman walked up to him and gave him an envelope, thanking him for his service.

When the trooper later opened the card, he found the cash inside.

State Police are not allowed to accept such gifts, so they were looking for the woman so she could tell them where she would like the money donated. The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, has donated the money to the Stewart's Holiday Match program.

Stewart's has partnered with YNN and Time Warner Cable once again for the Holiday Match program, which helps local children's charities.

As of Tuesday, more than $360,000 had been collected. That number does not include the Stewart's match of 100 percent. The company will continue to match all donations made through Christmas Day.

Last year, hundreds of organizations benefited from the campaign. If you want to donate, there's still a couple of weeks left.
