Albany Co. Sheriff’s Dept.: Social service fraud up in 2012
ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. -- Social services fraud rose in 2012. That's according to the Albany County Sheriff's Department.
Officials say they made 37 arrests, uncovering more than $340,000 in fraud. Those totals are up by seven arrests from last year when they uncovered a total of $225,000.
Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy praising the work of the Sheriff's department saying, "Our investigators have done a tremendous job identifying those who are breaking the law so the money will be there for those who truly need it."
