ALBANY, N.Y. -- Firefighters in Albany had to rescue several people from a burning building. They were called to Central and Lexington around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

When crews arrived, firefighters found heavy flames and say several people were trapped inside.

This is cell phone video of that rescue.

In order to rescue them, they had to knock down a tree to make space for the ladder. They say they also had to pull someone out who ran back in after the fire department arrived.

“We did have an episode where a man got excited, climbed our aerial ladder and re-entered the building. And again, we had to get him out of the front of the building with a ground ladder. I believe he was trying to get in there to make his own rescue,” Albany Fire Chief Robert Forezzi.

None of the people rescued were seriously injured, but a firefighter was taken to the hospital to be treated for a cut to the hand.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
