NEW YORK STATE -- State Senator James Seward faced his first primary since originally running for office back in 1986. The 13 term incumbent easily defeated James Blake in the nine county 51st District that stretches through Cayuga, Cortland and Tompkins counties.
Seward will face democrat Howard Leib in November's election.
