QUEENSBURY, N.Y. -- Halloween is almost a month away, but Wednesday night could bring a glimpse of winter weather, potentially putting crops in jeopardy.

A frost advisory is in effect for parts of Warren County and the surrounding areas, so there is a chance your pumpkin picking could soon come to an end. Most local farmers have their pumpkins already picked and ready to go, but with the frost threatening, many are taking additional precautions to prevent damage to their crop.

"Actually, we've done something different this year. We've put a lot of our pumpkins in a green house, so the frost can't get to it. Because even after you pick the pumpkin, the frost could still effect it. And also too, we put all of our bins of pumpkins under cover," said Dennis Kelly of Kelly’s Emerald Feeds.

While last year, many farmers lost their crops after Tropical Storm Irene, farmers say the lack of water this year has shortened the fall growing season.
