SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- With Obama's visit touting growing green energy and green jobs, the Ballston Spa Central School District is getting a head start on that initiative.
The district will join forces with Hudson Valley Community College for a program letting students earn high school and college credit, while studying clean technologies and sustainable industries at the college's TEC-SMART facility. The program is designed for 11th and 12th graders. Students will be able to earn more than 20 college credits while earning a high school diploma.
"This is all just very timely with the President's second visit to our region. Specifically to talk about green jobs in the workforce as we see these things come together. It's a real, real strong example of showing how we can change curriculum and learning experiences for our kids as we prepare them for the future," said BSCSD Superintendent Dr. Joseph P. Dragone.
The program will begin next school year.
