Former corrections officer sentenced

SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A former corrections officer has landed himself behind bars after nearly stabbing a man to death in a fit of road rage.

Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy says Frank Soriano will spend five years in state prison.

Prosecutors say Soriano rammed his car into the back of another man's car in Wilton. That's when they say the two pulled over and Soriano stabbed the victim before driving away.

The victim was able to drive himself to help before spending a night at Albany Medical Center to recover.

A jury found Soriano guilty of felony assault in September.

Murphy says he has since received multiple calls from fellow corrections officers, telling him that Soriano is "an aberration and needs to go to prison."
