Board votes in favor privatizing Maplewood Manor
BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. -- The Saratoga County Board of Supervisors votes to pave the way for privatizing the Maplewood Manor Nursing Home.

Maplewood Manor will now be transferred to a Local Development Corporation. The LDC would in turn look for a private operator to purchase and run the facility in the future.

The plan passed Tuesday night with a 16-5 vote.

Saratoga Springs County Supervisor Joanne Yepsen voted against the plan. She tells us she's concerned with accountability if the home is placed in private hands.

Those in support of the plan say the nursing home should be sold in order save the county millions of dollars each year.

More than 200 residents currently live at Maplewood Manor.
