ALBANY, N.Y. -- Albany police have arrested two men in connection with a shooting at Third and Judson streets Thursday night.
The incident started around 6 p.m. when an officer on a bike heard several shots fired near the intersection, then saw a grey Toyota leaving the scene. A witness told the officer that two males in the car fired several shots at a man walking on the 300 block of Third Street.
Police said the car was picked up by a patrol unit on McCrossin Avenue and led officers on a brief pursuit. It came to a stop at Beverly Avenue and Henry Johnson Boulevard where three men got out of the car and took off running.
Jamal Bellamy, 27, of Albany was taken into custody immediately, while the two other suspects ran into the yards of nearby homes.
Officers set up a perimeter and, with the help of State Police Aviation and K-9 Units, located Lashawn Hicks, 35, hiding in the basement of a home on Beverly Avenue.
Bellamy is charged with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree criminal use of a firearm. Hicks was charged with second-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal mischief.
The search continues for the third suspect.
