UNITED STATES -- President Barack Obama now says he supports same-sex marriage.
During an interview with ABC News, Obama said he believes same-sex couples should be able to get married. He says he came to the conclusion over several years of talking to family and friends.
Obama has previously said his personal views of gay marriage were evolving.
"At a certain point, I've just concluded that for me, personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married," Obama said.
This past weekend, Vice President Joe Biden also talked about same-sex marriage. He said he wasn't making a full endorsement of gay marriage, to which he's opposed. But he says he does believe that marriage is about being loyal to someone you love.
