SARATOGA, N.Y. -- In honor of Memorial Day Weekend Veterans, and their families took a trip on the Saratoga and North Creek Railway.
A ceremony was held to honor all active duty military and veterans. Vets got a free trip up to the Adirondacks. They'll make seven stops along the way, and a patriotic tribute will be held at several of the train's stops.
John Weyand, Army Veteran said, “They say the big thing you remember in the service is the person next to you, so i think of the ones I had been acquainted with in the military, and that bond was there, and especially the ones that died."
Saturday's trip to the Adirondacks was also the railways first of the season. For the first time in its history, the railway will offer service seven days a week to its stops throughout the First Wilderness Heritage Corridor.
