GLENS FALLS, N.Y. -- Layoffs are coming at a major North Country employer. Glens Falls Hospital is eliminating 29 positions and reducing hours of five employees as it looks to save $10 million.
Some employees who are impacted will be offered opportunities to fill existing vacant positions.
The hospital says changes to the Medicare policy have led to more patients being admitted in "observation status."
According to Glens Falls, they're paid at a lower rate for those patients..
The hospital's president and CEO says patient care won't suffer because of the cuts.
