CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. -- Football star Tim Tebow is speaking more about his call to Matt Hardy on Monday night.
People all across the Capital Region got #TebowCallMatt trending on Twitter on Monday. Within two hours, Tebow found out about the campaign, and picked up the phone.
Tebow told ESPN he had to convince Hardy and his friends on speaker phone that it was not a prank call, and they had a great conversation and prayed together on the phone. Tebow said Matt was in good spirits, and he was an inspiration to him.
Tebow also said the support from Matt's friends around him was "so cool." He said for everything Matt was dealing with - losing his girlfriend and friend in the crash, and his own injuries - it puts everything into perspective. Tebow said having an opportunity to try and encourage Matt is better than any touchdown he'd ever score.
