KINGSTON, N.Y. – ‘Tis the season for charity and running in the cold. The 5K Reindeer Ramble got off to a running start at the YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County.
About 125 runners came out to raise money for the Y's Strong Kids Foundation. The program allows school-aged children interested in sports to use the Y who can't otherwise afford a membership.
Reindeer Ramble organizers say this foundation makes kids the top priority.
“But the kids are inside, they're playing, they're basketball they're playing sports, they're swimming and they're learning. It gets them off the streets. We'll definitely keep this going,” said Stephen Ackermann, Reindeer Ramble organizer.
Ackermann says this year's ramble brought in around $2,500.
