UNITED STATES -- A powerful storm is picking up steam as it makes its way across the Midwest, Gulf Coast and southern states.
This after the National Weather Service says an apparent tornado touched down near downtown Mobile, Alabama.
Two tornadoes also touched down in Texas. One person was killed near Houston by a falling tree. Across the south, more than 300,000 without power and three people have died.
Locally, the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning set to begin at 7 p.m.
