KINGSTON, N.Y. -- Slippery conditions made things hard for first responders on Saturday. Two firefighters were injured battling a fire in Kingston.
Firefighters were called to what they later deemed a "heavy fire" on Franklin Street around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. While searching the building, two firefighters became trapped on the second floor. They were able to escape through second floor windows.
The Kingston Fire Chief says the snowy conditions made fighting the fire extremely difficult.
"They had to dive out the window to escape the fire. They slid on the roof and came off the roof and landed on the ground," said Kingston Fire Chief John Reinhardt.
One firefighter suffered a chest injury and another had a broken arm.
No one else was hurt and there's no word on a cause for the fire.
