CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. – The cold weather can be deadly. In fact, there's a frostbite warning in effect for the entire state.

Doctors say that anyone over 65, those who have diabetes or poor circulation and children under 13 should remain indoors as much as possible or limit time outside to no more than ten minutes.

Frostbite and hypothermia can set in within a few minutes on any uncovered skin, so make sure your skin is covered.

"The first sign is pain. They start getting that burning pain is a sign that you're starting to get some damage to the tissue and it's time to go inside," said Dr. Bryan Cargano.

Doctors say the most dangerous time for frostbite is in the morning and late afternoon when kids are waiting to get on and off the bus.
