MASSACHUSETTS -- Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick declares a state of emergency. The Bay State is expected to be hit particularly hard by the storm.

Some areas could see about three feet of snow by the end of this storm.

The National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning through Saturday for the city of Boston and other areas. Wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour and some coastal flooding are also possible.

Patrick is urging everyone to stay off the roads and to stay safe. He says this storm is unique.

Patrick said, "Two or three feet of snow in this period of time is a profoundly different type of storm than we have dealt with in the time you, and I have been doing this together. And the time to recover and the demands of that recovery we cannot know until the storm is over."

This storm comes almost 35 years after the date of another historic storm. On February 6, 1978, Boston received 25 inches of snow.
