ALBANY, N.Y. --The state Senate is expected to vote Monday on Governor Cuomo's pick for the State Court of Appeals.
If confirmed by the state Senate, Jenny Rivera will replace Carmen Ciparick, who is being forced out because of the state's age limitations for judges on the Court of Appeals.
Rivera is a professor at the CUNY Law school. She was a clerk for Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, when she sat on the United States District Court for Southern New York.
There was concern from some Senate Republicans arguing her lack of courtroom experience, but Rivera is expected to get confirmed.
