SCHENECTADY COUNTY, N.Y. -- A gun buyback program is offered in Schenectady County.
Gun owners dropped their guns off at Mt. Pleasant Boys and Girls Club, where they could safely dispose of any weapons they didn't want. They were then given gift cards in exchange for their guns. The gun buyback program is offered monthly at different locations across Schenectady County.
"We're paying, I believe, $200 for a handgun and $100 for a shotgun, both of those have to be working. And we also are taking BB guns as well," said Dominic Dagostino, Schenectady County Sheriff.
So far, the program has already collected 13 guns. The program is only open to Schenectady county residents.
