NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- A two alarm fire ripped through a restaurant in Newburgh.

Fire officials were called to Jimmy's Restaurant on Broadway around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The fire started in the cellar, but quickly spread to the first floor. Fire crews say they were able to contain the fire quickly, which is good news for not only the restaurant, but the people who live above the building.

"The residents will be displaced for a short period of time. They just sustained smoke damage. Once we get the electrical system squared away and the heat, they will be able to return," said City of Newburgh Fire Chief Michael Vatter.

No one was hurt and there is no word yet on what caused the fire.
